Yorkshire butterflies seem to have done very well over the past couple of years and none more so than dark green fritillary which is continuing to expand it’s range in the county. I caught up with these butterflies again today at Brockadale where I had been led to believe they were just about over. Yes there were some tatty individuals and yes the colours were a tad faded but at least we had a few to go at with the camera and eventually were able to photograph a near perfect specimen. The hot summer sun meant they were rarely still but we did manage a few images. Here’s a montage from today.
